Remarks
. K.O. Viets (1980) described this species collected from the freshwater mussel
Velesunio angasi
(Sowerby)
(Bivalvia:
Hyriidae
). From this study it is clear that
Unionicola scutata
can be found free living as well. The species is only known from the Northern Territory.
