Mimosa alleniana
Morong
J.R.I. Wood et al. 18512
(LPB, K) is the first record of this species, and of subseries
Pedunculosae
(sect.
Mimosa
, ser.
Mimosa
) for
Bolivia
. Given the distribution of the ten known species of subseries
Pedunculosae
in campo habitats on hills of the
ParanĂ¡
and
Paraguay
basins, and of
M. alleniana
from campo and cerrado in
Paraguay
and
Mato Grosso do Sul
on the east side of the Rio
Paraguay
, this species and subseries could be expected to occur in
Bolivia
. However it is only known in
Bolivia
from a restricted area of very vulnerable
cerrado
near Santiago de Chiquitos. It was categorised as Endangered (EN) by
Mamani
et al.
(2010)
but this status should be reviewed and perhaps changed to Critically Endangered (CR) as much of its habitat had been cleared and sown with
Brachiaria
brizantha
when revisited in 2013.
