Diagnosis
. Females in the genus
Pachyseius
have the epigynal shield separate from the ventral shield, bearing one pair of setae; ventral shield fused with anal shield to form a ventri-anal shield bearing 2–4 pairs of pre-anal setae; tarsus II with 1–3 distal setae thick, heavy and spur-like; anterior ends of peritremes at a level between setae

; setae on opisthogastric soft skin simple and needle-like; and dorsal and peritrematal shields usually with several pairs of greatly expanded gland pores.
This diagnosis excludes some species that have been described or classified in the genus
Pachyseius
, but are here considered to belong to other genera (especially the closely related genus
Mirabulbus
Liu & Ma 2001
), as discussed by
Mašán & Halliday (2014)
.
