Overall colour dark brown to black, frontal triangle dark brown to black, shiny, reaching lunule; frons 1.0–1.1 times longer than wide and 2.0–2.2 times wider than flagellum; width at widest point 2.3–2.5 times the bottom eye width; gena shiny brown, 0.21–0.22 times eye height; postgena shiny brown, with light prunescence and 0.28–0.32 width of head; scape and pedicel brown to dark brown, first flagellomere oblong, 1.2 times wider than long, dark brown with pale pubescence, arista dark brown and 1.7–2.1 times width of first flagellomere; moderate facial carina, visible laterally; palpus dark brown with 4 enlarge setae apically, 1 ventral seta pre-apical and a ventral row of slender setae, labium brown

Scutum shiny dark brown to black; scutellum dark brown to black, microsetose; fore femur dark brown; fore tibia brown on dorsal and posterior side with apex lighter and anterior side light brown; femur and tibia on mid and hind leg dark brown; all tarsi light brown; hind basitarsus shorter than length of tarsi 2–4 combined; haltere uniformly dark brown; wing

Male postabdomen (

). Epandrium in lateral view 1.1 times longer than wide, in posterior view 2.3 times wider than high (before cerci), small setae densely covering posterior portion of epandrium mixed with a low density of large setae; surstylus 1.1 times as high as epandrium, paddle shape with anterior edge straight and posterior edge curved (opposite from the other species), and with a large egg shape structure situated basally and covering about half the surstylus length, short setae covering anterior side and distal half of surstylus and with 3 very long apical setae; cerci small, narrow and pointed apically, 0.53 times length of surstylus in posterior view, with short strong setae on bottom half, apically swollen in lateral view.

Etymology.
The specific name refers to the very short flagellum, from the Latin
brevis
meaning short and Greek
keraia
meaning antenna, or any horn-like structure.
