Diagnosis.
P. barbeyi
is a small to medium-sized species, with body length (excluding ovipositor) of 6.7-11.8 mm, fore wing length 5.1-8.1 mm; ovipositor length 1.3
x
fore wing length (holotype), but variable length among specimens from Turkey. It is readily distinguished by the shape of the head with a very narrow cerciniform occipital carina (width less than 0.2
x
ocellus diameter), rounded latero-ventral margin of pronotum without tooth-like processes, tarsal claw bearing two tooth-like processes along the inner margin, and a short and stocky petiole.
