Taxonomic notes.
The genus
Mnesarchus
have been synonymized with
Discotettix
by
Bolívar (1887)
.
Kevan (1966)
recognized it as distinct subgenus but later
Mnesarchus
has been considered a synonym of
Discotettix
again (
Blackith, 1992
;
Yin
et al.
, 1996
;
Otte, 1997
). The
type
species is morphologically very different from other
Discotettix
members and is thus assigned to its own subgenus,
Mnesarchus
. It can be easily separated from other species of the genus by the set of the following characters: (I) frontal costa bifurcates at the lower margin of the compound eyes (bifurcation is in the lower third of the compound eyes in
