Burmannia cochinchinensis
Gagnepain (1907: 463)
Citation in the protologue:
“Indo-Chine.—Cochinchine: Cay-cong, sans n˚ [
Thorel
]”.
First-step
lectotype
: Inadvertently designated by
Jonker (1938)
citing “Type: Thorel s.n., from Cochin-China, in herb.
P
, duplicate in herb.
U
”
Second-step
lectotype
(designated here):—Cochinchine, Cay-cong, s.d.,
Thorel
s.n. (
P
, barcode
P00738852
[image!], available on https://science.mnhn.fr/institution/mnhn/collection/p/item/p00738852,

). Isolectotypes:
P
(barcode
P00738851
[image!]) &
U
(barcode
U0124941

.
Notes
: There are two relevant specimens at P (barcodes P00738851! and P00738852!) which are perfectly fit to the citation of first step lectotypification. Labels are there on the sheets as ‘ISOTYPE’ and ‘TYPE’ respectively. We could not trace the person who made it and any corresponding publications for this label (the context is same in the case
B. letestui
,
B. subcoelestis
, and
B. tisserantii
, which are discussed below. The relevant specimens bear ‘Type’ label, but no details are known about it). Even though both the P specimens are fit to the protologue, only the specimen with barcode P00738852 bears a slip of fine illustration of floral parts (most probably drawn by Gagnepain). Therefore, this specimen (barcode P00738852) is here designated as the second-step
lectotype
of the name. We traced a reliable duplicate of P-specimens at U (barcode U0124941!), as rightly mentioned by
Jonker (1938)
