Widely distributed throughout the USA except for northern New England ( Beal 2003 ); in Canada recorded from British Columbia , Ontario , and Québec (Bousquet 1991). A synanthropic species recorded as a minor pest in animal and vegetable materials; also in granaries and as a pest of insect collections ( Bousquet 1990 ).
