Remarks.
One specimen in the collection (AM W.201408) from Murrumbulga Point (New South
Wales
) has been identified, incorrectly, as this species.
Eunice tridentata
(originally described from
New Zealand
) has been confused with other species with yellow bidentate subacicular hooks and branchiae starting at chaetiger 3 (
Fauchald 1986
). However,
E. tridentata
has branchiae in less than 55% of chaetigers, while the examined specimen has branchiae distributed over most of the body. This specimen is here considered indeterminable and we suggest that this species does not occur in Australian waters.
