Known so far only from the Arava valley ( Israel ) and from Palmyra ( Syria ). Pollen hosts. Possibly oligolectic on Tamarix (Tamaricaceae) : all 4 pollen loads (2 localities, 1 country) analyzed so far consisted of Tamarix pollen, and the entire type series of H. aravensis composed of 16 females and 5 males has been collected on Tamarix ( Zanden, 1992 ) .
