Lectotype in SMT, designated by Pont (2001: 475) . Chile . Diagnosis. Length of body. 4.0– 4.2 mm (male, female). Head. Male frons broad, narrowing from vertex to lunule. Frons, fronto-orbital plate, parafacial and gena silver pruinose. Antenna and arista dark brown; postpedicel with tip pointed. Palpus dark brown. Thorax. Scutum grey pollinose with 3 brown vittae, the 2 lateral ones wider and reaching the subbasal scutellar setae; scutellum grey pollinose. Dorsocentrals 2+3. Intraalars 1+2. Lower katepisternal short, closer to the posterior one. Haltere yellow. Calypters white. Legs. Fore tibia without a posterior seta. Mid femur with 2 preapical setae. Mid tibia with 1 median posterior seta. Hind tibia with 1 short and fine median anterodorsal and anteroventral setae; without posterodorsal. Arolium and pulvillus short. Wing. Costal spine indistinct. Abdomen. Sternite 1 bare. Remarks. This species has the characters of the Old World Calliophrys -group of Limnophora , with male frons broad and dorsocentrals 2+3.
