Remarks:
According to Rosalie de Lamarck, her father’s collection contained
three specimens
. G. Mermod (former curator of molluscs at MHNG) noted that the specimen
1098/9/1
is the one figured in the
Tableau
, while it is difficult to say which one of these three was figured by Kiener. We have some doubts as to whether
1098/9/1
is the figured specimen since the size does not quite match. On the other hand, specimen
1098/9/2
bears a faded handwritten inscription by Lamarck inside its aperture, and thus is surely one of his original specimens.
