Western Atlantic—USA (North Carolina, Florida), Bahamas , Gulf of Mexico, Antilles, Guianas, and Brazil ( Amapá , Pará, Rio Grande do Norte , Paraíba , Alagoas , Bahia , Espírito Santo , Rio de Janeiro , São Paulo , Rio Grande do Sul ) ( Rathbun 1898 , 1901 as Lambrus agonus ; Hay & Shore 1918 ; Williams 1965 , 1984 ; Soto 1985 ; Abele & Kim 1986 ; Mantelatto & Fransozo 2000 ; Serejo et al. 2007 as Parthenope agona ; Boone 1930 ; Powers 1977 as Parthenope agonus ; Melo 2008 ). Remarks. Previous records on São Paulo coast include Ubatuba ( Mantelatto & Fransozo 2000 ; Mantelatto et al. 2016a , both as Parthenope agona ). This species was included in a monotypic genus Agolambrus , which is very similar to Parthenope Weber, 1795 ( Tan & Ng 2007 ).
