FIGURE 1 . Dorsal habitus of Labomimus males. A. L . assingi . B. L. chouwenii . Scale bar: 1 mm. Diagnosis of male. Length nearly 3.0 mm; antennomeres IX–XI enlarged, lacking obvious modification; pronotum with round lateral margins; elytra in contrast to abdomen relatively small; long metaventral processes narrowed apically; metacoxa with long, curved projection on ventral margin; aedeagus asymmetric, with median lobe strongly curved rightwards at apex. Description. Male ( Fig. 1A ). Length 2.99 mm . Head longer than wide, HL 0.64 mm , HW 0.58 mm ; eyes small, each composed of about 22 facets. Antenna with scape about 3.9 times as long as wide, antennomeres II– VIII each strongly to slightly elongate, antennomeres IX–XI ( Fig. 2A ) enlarged, unmodified. Pronotum ( Fig. 2B ) slightly longer than wide, PL 0.62 mm , PW 0.57 mm , with round lateral margins. Elytra small, much broader than long, EL 0.66 mm , EW 0.97 mm . Metathoracic wings reduced. Metaventral processes ( Fig. 2C ) long, narrowed apically; with pair of indistinct humps above metacoxae. Protrochanter, profemur ( Fig. 2D ), mesotrochanter, and mesofemur ( Fig. 2E ) simple; metacoxa ( Fig. 2F ) with long, curved, apically narrowed ventral projection. Abdomen broad at base and narrowed posteriorly, AL 1.07 mm , AW 1.05 mm ; tergite IV longest, more than twice as long as tergite V; sternite IX as in Fig. 2G . Length of aedeagus ( Fig. 2 H–J) 0.48 mm ; median lobe asymmetric, strongly curved rightward and narrowing apically in dorso-ventral view; elongate parameres narrowed at apices in lateral view. Female. Unknown. Distribution. China : Yunnan . Etymology. The specific epithet is dedicated to Volker Assing (Hannover, Germany ), who collected the single male. Comparative notes. Labomimus assingi sp. nov. is most similar to L. minshanus sp. nov. (described below) by sharing a similar general appearance, and the relatively small elytra. The reduced hind wings in both species indicate a poor ability of dispersal. These two species can be separated by the relatively much longer projection of the metacoxa in the male, the median lobe of the aedeagus has a more strongly curved apex in L . assingi sp. nov. , as well as their distributions.
