Type:— ARGENTINA . Buenos Aires : P. Commerson s.n. ( holotype P00745858!, isotype US-2854662 (fragm. ex P)). = Paspalum ovatum Nees ex Trinius (1826: 113) . Type:— BRAZIL . Brasilia, Minas Gerais : W. S. J. G. von Besser s.n. ( holotype LE-TRIN-0499.03; isotype US-951908 (fragm. ex LE)). Distribution:— Introduced in Egypt , where known from the Nile region as well as Sinai Peninsula . In the Middle East, also introduced to Iraq , Palestine and Saudi Arabia . Native to South America: Argentina , Brazil , Paraguay and Uruguay ( Wilkin 2014 ). The species was first recorded in Egypt by Täckholm (1956) ( Table 1 ). In Egypt , Paspalum dilatatum is a common weed of gardens, nurseries and croplands ( Shaltout et al. 2005 ). FIGURE 1. Distribution map of Paspalum species in Egypt.
