Urticaceae : Urtica dioica L. ; adults have been caught on U. gracilis Aiton ( Spencer 1969 ) . Larval biology. The larva bores in the pith of the stem and roots. Puparium. ( Fig. 57 ) Slender and yellowish, with deep intersegmental grooves; formed within the stem. Phenology and voltinism. Pupae overwinter, with adults emerging in spring. Collection dates for adults range from 23 April in Oregon to 7 July in Manitoba ( Spencer 1969 ; Spencer & Steyskal 1986 ). Distribution.
