Material examined. AUSTRALIA , WESTERN AUSTRALIA : NMV J55015 , 5 males , 2 females (cl. 13.4– 25.1 mm ), off Ningaloo North, 21°58.13–58.70´S, 113°58.66–45.23´E, 726–732 m , 11 Dec. 2005 (stn SS10/ 2005/159) (acq. 008); NMV J55128 , 1 male , (not measured) (stn SS10/2005/159) (acq. 008). Type locality. East of Andaman Islands, 1041 m . Remarks . The specimens agree in most respects with published accounts. Munidopsis andamanica can be distinguished from other species of the genus known from Australia by a combination of characters that includes the sharply triangular rostrum; absence of any eyespines; absence of epipods on the cheliped and the generally smooth carapace that lacks both epigastric spines and an outer orbital spine on frontal margin. This is the first report of the species in Australian waters. Distribution. East of the Andaman Islands, Indonesia , Solomon Islands , New Caledonia , Vanuatu , Fiji , Taiwan , South China Sea, Philippines , Japan , and southwestern Australia ; 334–1598 m .
