Doll (1978: 640) :—Listed from Bulgaria without locality specification. Herbarium voucher specimen:— A single herbarium sheet with eight plants (four are polliniferous, pollen grains irregular in size). – Flora von Bulgarien , Rila-Gebirge, Musalla-Hütte. 12 Jul [19]76, R . Doll [as Taraxacum mattmarkense ] ( JE , no. det. 19262). Interpretation:As pointed out by Štěpánek & Kirschner (1999) , T. mattmarkense is a remarkable member of T . sect. Alpina , confined to the western part of the Alps. It is very dissimilar from the above Bulgarian material, and there is no other indication of its occurrence in Bulgaria . The plants under this name in the Doll’s collection mostly belong to what is described as T. serenum below.
