( Figs 3F , 5M , 37 A–F) Holotype . Female. VIC, Mt Stirling , - 37.12732°S , 146.49663°E , 1700m asl , pitfall , 30.viii.2015 , R . Slatyer leg., [ SAMA 22661,01 ]. Paratypes . Male subadult on same slide than holotype [ SAMA 22661,02 ]; 7 specimens in ethyl alcohol, [ SAMA 22661,03 ]; female on slide and 2 specimens in ethyl alcohol, all of them same data as holotype [ SAMA 22661,04 ] [22661,05] [22661,06] . Description. Size. Length up to 1.835 mm excluding antennae, (n=4). Colour. Beige. Head with purple anterior stripe. Ant 1 to 4 pigmented only at tip. Th II to Abd III with five longitudinal bands similar to E. quinquelineata . Head. Eight eyes, G and H smaller than E and F. Antennal length 835 μm (n=2), 2.6 times length of the head. Ant IV with bilobed apical vesicle; relative lengths of Ant I/II/III/IV=1/2.07/1.64/2.03. Sensory organ of Ant III with straight rod-like sensilla in addition to 3 guard sensilla ( Fig. 37B ); four labral papillae with one short conical projection on each rounded papillae ( Fig. 37A ). Labral formula 4/554, 4 prelabral ciliated chaetae, labral chaetae smooth. External process of labial papilla E not reaching the papilla tip. Labial chaetae MREL 1 L 2 all ciliated, only with one Mc M, and with R shorter than M. Thorax and abdomen. Ratio lengths of Abd IV/III=5 (n=4). Tibiotarsus without differentiated chaetae, with exception of smooth terminal chaetae on legs 3, characteristic for the genus. Unguis with 4 teeth, paired two at 50% from base, first unpaired tooth at 75 % from base; lateral teeth below level of paired ones. Trochanteral organ with 12 chaetae. Unguiculus lanceolate, with external serrated lamella. Tenent hair clavate, longer than unguis. Length of manubrium and dentes 340 + 430= 773 μm (n=4). Manubrial plate with 4 chaetae and 2 pseudopores. Mucro bidentate with anteapical tooth similar in size to apical one, and with mucronal basal spine reaching the tip of subapical tooth. Mucro 11 μm, (n=4). Length of smooth, apical part of dens four times of Mucronal length. Macrochaetotaxy. Simplified Mc formula: 3,1,0,2,1a/2,4/0,2/0,0,1/0,0,2,2,2. Head chaetotaxy ( Fig. 37C ) An 2 , An 3a1 , An 3 and A 5 Mac. M 1 to M 4 present as Mc. Sutural row with S 0 , S 2 , S 3 , S 4i , S 4 , S 5i and S 5 present. Only Ps 5 present. Thoracic chaetotaxy of Th II ( Fig. 37D ) with Mc m 1 and m 2 on T1 area (in one specimen there is m 2i2 asymmetric), on T2 area Mc a 5 , m 4 , m 4i and m 5 present (always a 5’ as mes). Abdominal chaetotaxy ( Fig. 37E ) with a 2 and a 3 absent on A1 area on Abd II and sensillum as anterior to the line that unites the two botriotricha, only m 3ep and m 3e Mc present on A2 area of Abd II. On Abd III only m 3 Mc present on A5 area; Abd IV ( Fig. 37F ) with Mc A 4 –A 6 and B 4 –B 6 . Sensillary formula normal for Entomobrya . Remarks. This new species has a similar chaetotaxic formula on Th II, Abd II and III to E. boreensis sp. nov. described above, but differs in its colour pattern (see remarks for E. boreensis sp. nov. ). Entomobrya stirlingensis sp. nov. , on current records, appears to be a short, range endemic species restricted to a single mountain summit. Etymology. The species is named for its type locality.
