Material studied. Syntypes collected by G. Compere (collection # 798) in Perth, Western Australia . One male ( 10- ii-1914 ), three females (10 & 11-ii-1914 ), all presumably caught in flight. Permanent mounts are lodged in NMNH on loan from the New York State Museum. This species differs from the only known congener, the Eucalyptus - galling Eocincticornia malarskii Kolesik, 1995 in the male genitalia: the teeth on the gonostylus are blunt in E. australasiae and acute in E. malarskii .
