. Cuticle smooth or finely annulated. Head end may be set off by a constriction or a cephalic suture. Stoma surrounded by 3 or 6 weakly to very strongly developed lips that form lobes. Teeth may be divided entirely or at the anterior ends. Narrow pharyngostoma often has no distinct posterior termination but gradually transforms to pharyngeal lumen. Inner labial sensilla papilliform, outer labial and cephalic sensilla setiform. Double lateral cervical setae (usually). Pharynx widens slightly in some species forming a weak basal bulb. Spicules cephalate and curved. Tail short conical to conico-cylindrical with a short cylindrical posterior end with caudal glands and spinerette.
