Vellumnus currently has six species: V. labyrinthicus ( Miers, 1884 ) ; V. minabensis (Sakai T, 1969) ; V. penicillatus ( Gordon, 1930 ) , V. pictus Fahimi & Naderloo, 2023 ; V. pygmaeus ( Takeda, 1977 ) ; and V. tki Ng & Clark 2023 . One species, Pilumnus vermiculatus A. Milne-Edwards, 1873 , originally referred to the genus by Ng (2010) (see also Ng et al . 2008) has recently been transferred to Lophoplax Stimpson, 1858 ( Ng & Rahayu 2023 ).
