Munida iris
A. Milne-Edwards, 1880
Munida iris
has been reported from
Brazil
to the Middle Atlantic Bight in depths of
45 to 932 m
(Milne-
Edwards 1880
;
Wenner 1982
; de
Melo-Filho 2006
). All specimens used in our study were collected in the Gulf of
Mexico
and Caribbean in depths of
68 to
531 m
. This species was collected in every month except October; ovigerous females were collected in every month except September and October (
Fig. 8
H). Only
16 males
were measured and CW ranged from
6.8 to 20.8 mm
; males and females were not significantly different in size (t-test, df
=
22, t
=
1.025, p
=
0.317). One non-ovigerous female measured with a CW of
13 mm
; seven ovigerous females had CW of 12.5 to 22.0 mm. Neither fecundity (R2
=
0.017, p
=
0.834) nor average egg size was significantly correlated with CW (R2
=
0.155, p
=
0.382).
