Lonchura oryzivora (Linnaeus) ( Passeriformes : Estrildidae ): female holotype and 3 female paratypes ( AMU –SYR.244) (bod.); JAPAN , no other data. Host specimen deposited in the MNHW. Type depository. All type material deposited in the AMU . Host range and habitat. Monoxenous species occupying quills of body feathers of Lonchura oryzivora . Distribution. Japan . Etymology. The name oryzivorus refers to the specific name of the host. Differential diagnosis. This new species is similar to K. lonchurus . In females of both species, the hysteronotal shield is absent and setae d1 and d2 are unequal in the length. Females of K. oryzivorus differs from K. lonchurus by the following characters: in females of K. lonchurus , setae d1 are 4.5–6.5 times longer than d2 ; aggenital setae ag1 and ag2 are subequal in length or setae ag1 are slightly (1.1–1.2 times) longer than ag2 and setae tc”III– IV are 1.3 times longer than tc’III–IV . In females of K. oryzivorus , setae d1 are 1.7–2 times longer than d2 ; aggenital setae ag1 are 1.5 times longer than ag2 and setae tc”III–IV are 1.8 times longer than tc’III–IV .
