The genus Tinearia Schellenberg, 1803 was reinstated as genus by JEŽEK (1977) , accepted as genus by WAGNER (1990) , and subsequently downgraded to subgeneric level as subgenus of Psychoda Latreille, 1796 ( KVIFTE 2012 ).
