Sw. var. andicola Stolze as a synonym. Later, in a treatment of the Brazilian species of the genus, Mynssen & Sylvestre (2019) listed Diplazium grandifolium var. andicola as a synonym of Diplazium mattogrossense A.Samp. , calling attention to a potential taxonomic problem. Upon investigating material of all involved taxa, we have arrived at the conclusion that we misapplied the name D. ballivianii ; it is probably a junior synonym of Diplazium macrophyllum Desv. The correct name for the species treated as D. ballivianii by Kessler & Smith (2018c) thus is:
