Megacormus Karsch, 1881 . Composition. The subfamily includes two tribes, Chactopsini and Megacormini , introduced by Soleglad & Sissom (2001). Distribution . North America ( Mexico ), South America. Taxonomic history . This taxon was originally introduced as a subfamily of Chactidae . Soleglad (1976b) and Francke (1979) suggested that megacormines are closely related to euscorpiines. It was listed in Chactidae by Sissom (1990) , and considered a synonym of Euscorpiidae by Fet & Sissom (2000a) . Biogeographic history . The megacormines are a New World subfamily with a disjunct distribution of tribes Chactopsini (South America) and Megacormini ( Mexico ). Diagnosis . See Soleglad & Sissom (2001) for details.
