Holotype in SMNS; also a series from South Africa in BMNH . Diagnosis. Scutum dark brown, postpronotum and notopleuron bluish-grey dusted; legs bluish-grey dusted; one pair of orbital setae, curved outwards and backwards Notes. This runs to couplet 9 of Emden’s (1951) key, close to L. fuscohalterata Emden and L. tetragramma Emden , differing from both species by the shorter frontal triangle, vibrissal angle projecting beyond profrons, hind femur with one anteroventral seta, knob of halteres yellow, and the dusted pattern of scutum and abdomen ( Pont 1969 ). Pont (1969) gave an emendation of Emden’s (1951) key to identify these three species.
