Diagnosis.
Apical scutellar macrosetae absent; abdomen dark brown, almost entirely golden pruinose with a ferruginous aspect; epandrium spatulate apically; R
4+5
bifurcation anterior to the apex of cell d; gonocoxite with pointed apex; spermathecae fusiform.
Description of male
holotype
. Lengths.
Body:
12.5 mm
; wing:
10 mm
.
Head.
(
Figs 6–7
) Slightly wider than high; antenna black, scape and pedicel black setose, the former about 1.5 times the length of the latter; postpedicel about twice the length of scape and pedicel combined; stylus short, about two thirds the length of pedicel and composed of two articles, first minute, about a third the length of second, the latter with a preapical seta-like sensorial element about half its length, placed dorsally and extending little beyond its apex (
Fig. 8a
); face narrow, about a ninth the width of head, predominantly silver pruinose, with sparse pale golden pruinosity; facial gibbosity weakly developed, restricted to lower third of head; mystax also restricted to lower third of head, predominantly with white macrosetae, except on sides, with yellow macrosetae; ocellar tubercle with sloping sides, two black ocellar setae; postocular macrosetae black above and yellowish bellow, occiput white setose, covered with gray pruinosity; palpus black, yellowish setose; proboscis black, labial setae yellow.
Thorax.
Dark brown, golden cinereous pruinose, except the dark paramedial and lateral mesonotal stripes; scutellum with impressed rim. Chaetotaxy: Pronotum yellowish setose, two pairs of yellowish macrosetae on antepronotum; postpronotal lobe yellowish setose; scutum with black macrosetae, two notopleural, one supraalar and two postalar; only postsutural dorsocentral macrosetae present; scutellar disc with very few short black setae, some apical scutellar black setae, the central pair slightly longer, though not bristly; pleura yellowish setose, katatergal macrosetae yellow; anatergite bare.
Wing.
(
Fig. 10
) Yellowish, with metallic reflections; microtrichia on anteroapical margin extend partially to apical regions of r
1
and r
2+3
; R
2+3
more or less straight; R
4+5
bifurcation anterior to level of apex of cell d; crossvein r-m slightly posterior to middle of cell d; R
4
ends slightly below the wing apex; cell r
4
narrow basally; R
5
slightly sinuous near to base; m–m about three times the length of r–m and four times that of M
2
base; haltere yellowish.
Legs.
Slender, yellow, except mid and hind femora, with a brown dorsal stripe, and hind tibia and tarsi, brown; hind femur basally attenuated; claws black, empodia and pulvilli yellowish. Chaetotaxy: Black setose; macrosetae yellowish, fore femur with two ventral and two posterodorsal; mid femur with three ventral, six anteroventral, three anterior and one posterodorsal, subapical; hind femur with two anterior, five ventral, and dorsally one subapical on each side; fore tibia with one dorsal and two ventral, long; mid tibia with two ventral and one posteroventral; hind tibia with three dorsal and one ventral.
Abdomen.
Slender, dark brown, except posterior margins of segments 2-5, yellow; segments 1-7 golden pruinose, yellowish setose; tergites 2-5 with two posterolateral yellowish macrosetae; segment 8 apruinose, black setose.
Terminalia.
(
Figs 9
, 11–13) Dark brown, short; epandrium thin, slightly curved downwards towards apex, with black and yellow setae; hypandrium subrectangular, broad, twice as wide as long, posterior margin yellowish setose; gonocoxite subrectangular (Fig. 14), apex pointed posteriorly and curved towards inner side, gonocoxal apodeme absent; gonostylus yellowish, apex attenuated and curved upwards; phallus with only one prong (Figs 15–16), medially expanded in dorsal view; ejaculatory apodeme narrow, inserted about at the middle of the phallus.

Glaphyropyga andina
sp. nov.
Male holotype, dissected terminalia. 11. Lateral view; 12. Dorsal view; 13. Ventral view; 14. Gonocoxite and gonostylus, ventral view; 15–16. Phallus, lateral and dorsal view.
Female.
(
Fig. 17
). Similar to male, except for the following: Face mainly golden pruinose; seta-like sensorial element of stylus placed apically (
Fig. 8b
); mystacal macrosetae mainly yellow, except some lateral ones, black. Terminalia (
Fig. 18
) with segment eight short, half the length of the former one, apruinose; arms of genital fork parallel-sided, genital fork apodeme broad and blunt; common duct short; individual ducts four times as long as common duct; spermathecae fusiform (
Fig. 19
).
Variation.
Lateral macrosetae of mystax vary from yellow to black. A male specimen presents the legs predominantly yellow, with the dorsal stripe on mid and hind femur less conspicuous.
Etymology.
A feminine adjective in the singular form that comes from the Latin word
