(2012: 628) . Basionym:— Calathea albertii L.H. Bailey & Raffill (1914: 621) . Type:— USA . Cultivated plants of Florida , Alachua, Kanapaha Botanical Gardens, 19 August 2006 , S . B . Davis 1388 ( neotype , FLAS !, designated here). = Maranta albertii Pynaert & Van Geert , nom. nud. Notes :— Maranta albertii Pynaert & Van Geert was first published by Bailey & Raffill (1914) as the supposed basionym of Calathea albertii . However, Maranta albertii was associated with the abbreviation “ hort .” ( hortulanorum ), meaning a name used only in horticulture and not effectively published. Thus, Bailey & Raffill (1914) published a new species inadvertently when they described and transferred Maranta albertii to Calathea . Borchsenius et al. (2012) then transferred Calathea albertii to Goeppertia , but mistakenly cited Maranta albertii as the basionym. However, this error does not invalidate the combination, because these authors provided a complete and direct reference to Bailey & Raffill (1914) . Thus, the author of the basionym cited by Borchsenius et al. (2012) is here corrected. This species is known only from horticulture, as noted above.
