Omalaspis latreillii ( Hartig, 1840 ) n. comb. Type material 1♀ . Holotype diposited in ZSM, label data: blue label “1007”, white label “Holotiups Figites ? Latreillei Hartig ”. Omalaspis latreilii (Hartig) n. comb. has been the object of controversy. Described in the genus Figites , it has been transferred twice to the genus Callaspidia ( Giraud, 1860 ; Dalla Torre & Kieffer, 1910 ). It was also considered by Dalla Torre (1889) as an Onychia , currently synonymous to Aspicera . Weld (1952) , following the pattern defended by Dalla Torre & Kieffer (1910) , considers it as Callaspidia latreillii , and in the same study synonymizes Tavaresia with Omalaspis . Schmidt (1962) , defends the genus Tavaresia , and transfers C. latreillii to Tavaresia . After studying the type material Figites latreillii , the description of Tavaresia ( T. carinata Kieffer ; type presumably lost) and the genotype of Omalaspis ( Omalaspis noricus Giraud ), we conclude that Tavaresia is a synonymy of Omalaspis , as Weld (1952) mentions, and that Figites latreilli has to be transferred to Omalaspis .
