The male specimen of Stenopterus hirtipes Klug, 1825 : 473 , pl. 44, fig. 9 ( Figure 10 ), with the labels Rio [Rio de Janeiro], Olfers, (Acc 19917), is herein designated as the lectotype ( Figure 11 ) in order to stabilize the taxonomy and facilitate further identifications of this species; 3 female specimens with the same locality "miserunt Dr. de Olfers et Sellow" are herein designated as paralectotypes .
