Diagnosis.
Body length ranging from
14.3 mm
to
17.9 mm
. Antennomeres I slightly surpassing the mandibular plates; labium not surpassing the middle of metasternum; metasternum flat, elevated. Pygophore lateral margins subparallel anterior to the posterolateral angles; apices of posterolateral angles truncated in dorsal view.

Description.
Body dark brown, almost black, with legs and labium ocher (
Fig. 16
). Head 1.5 times wider than long; maximum head width across the mandibular plates subequal to half the head width across the eyes; posterior margins of the eyes forming an angle of less than 45º with the longitudinal body axis; each mandibular plate wider than clypeus, with the outer margin convex and the inner margin concave anterior to clypeus, apex rounded; antennomeres I slightly surpassing the mandibular plates, proportion of antennomeres: I

Measurements (n=10): Total length (n=7) 15.20 ± 0.60 (16.70–15.00); width of abdomen 7.65 ± 0.29 (8.00–7.20); head length 2.00 ± 0.20 (2.30–1,70); width 2.90 ± 0.09 (3.00–2.70); pronotum length 3.15 ± 0.06 (3.20–3.00); width 7.40 ± 0.27 (7.80–7.00); scutellum length 6.00 ± 0.14 (6.30–5.90); width 4.50 ± 0.14 (4.80– 4.30); length of antennomeres: I 0.90 ± 0.06 (1.00–0.80), II (n=9) 1.00 ± 0.09 (1.10–0.80), III (n=9) 1.60 ± 0.37 (2.50–1.20), IV (n=4) 2.05 ± 0.14 (2.10–1.80), V (n=2) 2.45 ± 0.21 (2.60–2.30); length of labiomeres: I 0.85 ± 0.11 (1.10–0.70), Int. 0.10 ± 0.05 (0.20–0.10), II 1.50 ± 0.11 (1.70–1.40), III 1.10 ± 0.18 (1.40–0.90), IV 0.85 ± 0.08 (1.00–0.80).

Similar to
Janeirona insignis
and
Janeirona vianai
. Differs from
J. insignis
by the maximum head width across the mandibular plates subequal to half the head width across the eyes, mandibular plates with rounded apex and the inner margin concave anterior to clypeus, and antennomeres I not dilated, slightly surpassing the mandibular plates. Differs from
J. vianai
by the larger size, antennomeres I surpassing the mandibular plates, metasternum flat, and pygophore posterolateral angles with truncated apices.
