Distribution: Known from Southern Brazil , in coastal regions and islands of the state of São Paulo. Remarks: Magulla symmetrica is transferred to Plesiopelma as a junior synonym of P. i n s u l a re with which it shares the carapace with low caput, carapace and sternum longer than wide, numerous labial cuspules (more than 100), anterior metatarsi of females longer than tarsi, seminal receptacles not flat in lateral view and bearing granules, short urticating type III hairs.
