Diagnosis ( Wygodzinsky 1944a ) Body length 3.0– 4.5 mm ; epicuticle with microdenticles; short with a few thin apical barbs clothing setae; antennae with 21–27 antennomeres; sensillum of third antennomere in dorsal position (between b–c and a–b macrosetae); short ( ma , la ) and long ( lp ) barbed notal macrosetae; thin pine cone marginal setae; 1+1 la , 1+1 lp macrosetae on VI–VII urotergites; 1+1 mp , 3 +3 lp on VIII urotergite and 1+1 mp , 5+5 lp on IX abdominal segment; cerci covered in macrosetae with 1–4 thin distal barbs (only 1–2 in the latero-interior macrosetae) and a few clothing setae. Habitat and distribution Soil-dwelling species distributed around the western regions of the Iberian Peninsula ( Condé 1951d ; Wygodzinsky 1944a ; Sendra & Moreno 2004 ). The presence of C. ( C. ) arrabidae in southeastern Europe ( Rusek 1965a ) needs to be revised.
