Habit and habitat.
Scattered on fallen logs in lowland forest.
Identification.
This species can easily be identified by the olive-greenish pileus with black spots and the cream context that when cut stains black and sometimes exudes a latex-like substance. The material agrees with the description provided by
Pegler (1983)
. The blackening context distinguishes this species from all other tropical
Hydropus
species.
