Genus
Electroderaeous
Taszakowski & Kim
,
gen. nov.
(
Fig. 1
)
Diagnosis:
distinguished from other genera of
Deraeocorini
by the following combination of characters: body elongated with dark deep punctuations, densely covered with long setae (
Figs. 1A, B
); compound eye relatively large, single compound eye width more than vertex, more than callus (
Fig. 1C
); antennae thick and somewhat short, antennae diameter subequal to 1/2 hind femur diameter, shorter than total body length, each antennomere spindle-shaped; second antennomere clearly shorter than 2x third antennomere (
Fig. 1D
); pronotal collar thick, more than fourth antennomere diameter; pronotum with dark rugged punctations, densely covered with long setae; callosites clearly impunctate, calli considerably swollen, covered with long setae; scutellum small, midline length less than commissure length, slightly swollen, covered with setae; hemelytra with dark deep punctuations, densely covered with long setae; lateral margin of hemelytra straight, not concave medially; tibia with setae-like spines; first tarsomere subequal to second tarsomere (
Figs. 1E, F
).

Description:
Male
:
Coloration
. Body mostly dark, partly pale, with dense dark punctuations.
Head:
mostly brown; antennae mostly brown.
Thorax:
pronotum mottled brown with dark part; scutellum mostly dark brown; hemelytra mostly pale brown with dark markings; legs mostly pale brown with dark annulations.
Abdomen:
entirely dark brown.
Surface and Vestiture
. Body glossy, strongly punctate, densely covered with setae; head impunctate, covered with dense setae; pronotum with rugged and deep punctuations, entirely covered with setae; scutellum impunctate, covered with setae; clavus and endocorium with dark deep punctures; embolium and cuneus with weak and pale punctures; leg entirely covered with short, dense pubescence; tibia with pale setae-like spines; abdomen densely covered with setae.
Structure.
Head:
hypognathous; vertex concave, narrow, less than single compound eye width, with weak longitudinal sulcus; compound eye large, clearly more than callus; antennae thick, diameter subequal to 1/2 hind femur diameter, shorter than the body; first antennomere short, narrowed at the base; second antennomere weakly fusiform, narrowed at the base, thinner than first antennomere, less than 2x third antennomere; third and fourth antennomeres fusiform, third antennomere slightly longer than fourth..
Thorax:
pronotum subtrapezoidal, pronotal collar thick, more than fourth antennomere diameter; calli strongly swollen; scutellum small, slightly swollen, midline length less than commissure length; lateral margin of hemelytra straight; legs short, femora robust; first and second tarsomeres subequal in length, together equal to third tarsomere.
Abdomen:
elongate, exceeding the apex of cuneus.
Type
species:
Electroderaeous crassicornis
sp. nov.
by original designation.
Etymology.
Named after a combination of Latin ‘
electrum
’—amber and ‘
