DIAGNOSIS. — This new genus shares one important character with Fulvia : stronger ribs on the posterior slope than on the median and anterior shell regions ( Vidal 1994 ). However, it differs from Fulvia in having: 1) very asymmetrical or “fragiform” outline, with a relatively pronounced keel or carina delimiting the posterior shell region (a character also shown by Fulvia fragiformis Vidal, 1994 ); 2) posterior ribs and interstices that are very strong and triangular; 3) poorly developed anterior ribbing; and 4) no ocular organs on the siphonal tentacles. TYPE SPECIES. — Pseudofulvia caledonica n. sp. by present designation.
