Diagnosis.
Distinguished from the endemic Taiwanese subspecies
H. nigrorubra conspicua
by the black head, black femora, and red abdominal venter.

Taxonomy.
Haematoloecha nigrorubra
was described based on a specimen from Pak Tha District of the present Bokeo Province of northwestern
Laos
. Later
H. yunnana
was described based a specimen collected from the southernmost part of Yunnan Province of
China
, just neighbouring
Laos
. A single
syntype
of
H. nigrorubra
(hereby designated as
lectotype
) and the
holotype
of
H. yunnana
have been re-examined and they are considered as conspecific, therefore
H. yunnana
is considered as a junior synonym of
H. nigrorubra
.
