The species Lithosia brevipennis Walker, 1854 was described from Ceylon on the basis of single female specimen. Moore (1882) transferred it to the genus Katha Moore, 1878 . Later, Hampson (1891: 47) described and illustrated male of this species mentioning Walker’s authorship. Nevertheless, the male specimen from the NHMUK collection, which Hampson used for description, is wrongly labeled as “ Type ” ( Fig. 22 ). Currently Lithosia brevipennis is considered as a junior synonym of Brunia antica ( Walker, 1854 ) ( Holloway 2001 ; Bucsek 2017 ), while the male specimen described by Hampson (1891) as a male of brevipennis clearly belongs to T. neooblitterans sp. nov. It is included here to the type series of T. neooblitterans sp. nov. Diagnosis. Externally, T. neooblitterans , sp. nov. is closely similar to T. oblitterans and T. montanebula ( Figs. 25, 26 ), but differs from them by the absence or just traces of a transverse line and slightly narrower forewing. The male genitalia of the new species differ from those of T. oblitterans by their juxta being much narrower and having narrower apical concavity and more rounded apical lobes, slightly longer vinculum, much shorter twisted lobe of the distal saccular process apex. Compared to those of T. montanebula ( Fig. 44 ), the male genitalia of T. neooblitterans , sp. nov. have much narrower juxta with much deeper apical concavity, slightly shorter vinculum, larger twisted lobe of the distal saccular process apex, and narrower vesica. The differences between T. neooblitterans , sp. nov. and T. microoblitterans , sp. nov. are listed in the diagnosis of the latter. Description. Adult . Forewing length 12–12.5 mm in males. Head with frons and vertex yellowish brown. Antennae bipectinate in males. Labial palpi porrect, yellow, sparsely covered with black scales. Thorax with collar and tegula yellowish brown; pectus yellow. Forewing with ground colour varies from yellowish-brown to brownish; costa pale brown. Hindwing light yellow; underside same. Legs light yellow suffused with blackish grey scales on fore and mid tibia. Abdomen with ground color yellow; underside same. Male genitalia with uncus long and narrow, slightly curved, terminal spine present; tegumen slightly longer than uncus, weakly sclerotized; vinculum shorter than tegumen, sclerotized, saccus u-shaped; juxta flap-like with invaginated apex and a rugose tube-like dorsal extension heavily connected to aedeagus. Valva broad, middle of the inner wall transverse by a wavy line; costa slightly convex; cucullus simple, flap-like with oval tip; sacculus narrow, with folded dorsal margin; apex of distal saccular process typical of genus. Aedeagus moderately long and broad, slightly curved, weakly sclerotized; vesica membranous with irrorations of small sclerotization; ductus ejaculatorius entering laterally. Female unknown. Distribution. The new species is widespread in India (found in Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat , Maharashtra , Karnataka , Tamil Nadu , Sikkim , Assam , Nagaland , Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh ) ( Kirti & Singh, 2016 as brevipennis ). Etymology. The specific epithet refers to the close similarity of the new species to T. oblitterans .
