Distribution and Ecology: —Pantropical, recorded from Mexico , Peru ( Kurokawa 1999 ), and China ( Thell et al. 2005 ). In India it was previously thought to be restricted to the Western Himalaya ( Divakar & Upreti 2005 ). Remarks: Flavopunctelia flaventior (Stirton) Hale (1984: 682) , a similar species, differs in having marginal, linear soralia. Specimen examined:— INDIA .
