Eugenia macrocarpa

5(4): 560 (1830)
EOO:
1,421.006 km
².
AOO:
12 km

Evaluation of IUCN:
Endangered.
Eugenia macrocarpa
has a restricted distribution to the Mexican territory, with only three records for the state of
Veracruz
, in the Gulf of
Mexico region
. This species occurs in the remnants of the Humid Montane Forest and Humid Tropical Forest, from
9 to 2,000 m
elev. The estimated extent of occurrence (EOO) and area of occupancy (AOO) fall into the Endangered category under the criterion B. There are up to three locations and all of them have ongoing threats. The habitat presents a high degree of threat due to disordered human activities which have a high impact on the state’s ecosystem and biodiversity (
CONABIO 2018
), from which it is inferred a continuing decline of habitat quality. Therefore,
Eugenia macrocarpa
is classified as Endangered (EN) as it meets the criteria B1ab(iii)+B2ab(iii).
