Remarks.
This subspecies is very similar to
E. cinerasces aurantipes
(Uvarov)
, which it is distinguished from
E. cinerascens aurantipes
by the lemon yellow disc of hind wing (greenish-yellow in
E. cinerascens aurantipes
) and the wider dark band of the hind wing (in typical forms). Both have pale light pink, pale orange or yellow hind tibia with a bluish spot at the base inside. According to
Uvarov (1943: 43)
it is possibly another subspecies of
E. cinerascens
.
Bey-Bienko (1963: 266)
listed it as subspecies of
E. cinerascens
for the first time, but
Presa & Garcia (1983: 9)
and
Otte (1994: 144)
listed it as species again. I agree with
Bey-Bienko (1963)
and consider it a subspecies of
E. cinerascens
.
