Distribution and habitat.
Manciola guaporicola
is widespread in Brazilian Cerrado and Pantanal, and in Bolivian
Chaco
(
Fig. 1
). In
Brazil
it is known from the states of
Pará
,
Tocantins
,
Rondônia
,
Mato Grosso
,
Mato Grosso do Sul
,
Goiás
,
Minas Gerais
, and in the
Distrito Federal
. In Amazonia it occurs in northern
Bolivia
and in open vegetation enclaves in southwestern
Pará
and southern
Rondônia
, in
Brazil
(
Fig. 1
).
Manciola guaporicola
is terrestrial and diurnal, inhabits grasslands and grassy scrubland, both in dry and wet soil, where it is found amid grasses (
Ávila-Pires 1995
;
Mesquita
et al
. 2000
; Uetabanaro
et al.
2007;
Valdujo
et al.
2009
).
Mesquita
et al.
(2000)
observed that the species seems to prefer more open physiognomies of Cerrado, but
Colli
et al.
(2002)
reported the species also in gallery forest.
