Holotype (fig. 4): male, Malaysia , Borneo , Sarawak, Lambir Hill National Park , 04°12’04” N 114°01’38” E , 200 m , 12.x.2006 , leg. T . L. McCabe and M. S. Adams , genit. prep. 5790 M. Fibiger. Lambir Hill National Park , 04°11’53.9” N 114°2’31.4” E , Lowland Dipterocarp Forest , 50 m , 11–21.x.2006 , genit. prep. 5797 M. Fibiger , OHHS Genome Bank, #05-02-01-52. Coll. NYSM . Diagnosis. Wingspan: 13 mm . Forewing: rounded, very broad, dark brown. Transverse lines: antemedial line blackish-brown; postmedial and subterminal line brown; terminal line with small, elongate black dots. Reniform: small, inconspicuous, dark brown, no open space medially. Hindwing: grey-brown; folded along body for pheromone deposit, with specialised tightly clustered, short, yellow setae. Hindleg: with massive tuft of long black hair-like setae. Underside: unicolorous dark brown. Abdomen: brown with long anal tuft. Male genitalia. Saccus: short and rounded. Vinculum: short. Tegumen: long. Tergite and sternite: indistinct. Valve: longer than wide. Costa : almost straight. Sacculus: narrow, inconspicuous. Ampulla: slightly asymmetrical, teardrop-shaped (apo.). Pollex : small, broad, and rounded, with long hair-like setae. Digitus: digitus prominent, slightly asymmetrical; left digitus slightly longer than right one and with a tiny subapical spine. Juxta: higher than wide. Anellus: fused with juxta. Phallus: very narrow and long, smoothly curving subapically; coecum long and pointed. Differential diagnosis. Differences from the other species of Tolpia are listed under the species-group. The shape of ampulla and pollex are similar to those of the Disca species , but the heavily black tuft on the hindleg, and the shape of phallus place T. mccabei in Tolpia .
