Type species : Mutilla ruficeps Smith, 1855 , by original designation. Diagnosis. MALE. Clypeus slightly concave, anterior border rounded, without projection, basally without median carina. Antennal tubercle dorsally not carinate. Mesosternum midway to anterior margin mesally with paired curved carinae or distinct paired tubercles. Mid and hind femora with setae as long as maximum width of femur. First metasomal tergum 1.1–1.3 × as long as broad. Length of volsella 0.5 × length of gonostylus. FEMALE. Clypeus posteriorly with thin curved carina, medially interrupted; anterior border with two weak tubercles. Scutellar scale absent. Mesopleuron smooth, with large punctures along vertical narrow ridge; propodeum laterally and metapleuron micropunctate, with sparse large punctures. Metasternal posterior median process acuminate or rounded; metasomal sternum 1 with simple longitudinal carina. Pygidial area elongate, narrow, carinate laterally, glabrous, shiny. Distribution .
