Marrubium vulgare
Linnaeus
,
Species Plantarum
2
: 582. 1753
.
"Habitat in Europae borealis ruderatis." RCN: 4257.
Lectotype
(Press & Hedge in Jarvis & al.,
Regnum Veg.
127: 64. 1993): Herb. Clifford: 312,
Marrubium
5, sheet A (BM-000646087)
.
Generitype
of
Marrubium
Linnaeus
(vide Green,
Prop. Brit. Bot.
: 165. 1929).
Current name:
Marrubium vulgare
L.
(
Lamiaceae
).
Note:
Hedge & Lamond (in
Notes Roy. Bot. Gard. Edinburgh
28: 93. 1968) indicated 738.5 (LINN) as type but this was a post-1753 addition to the herbarium and is not original material for the name. Although Seybold (in
Stuttgarter Beitr. Naturk., A
, 310: 7. 1978) said "Typus: Linne (BM), non vidi", this is inadequate as a typification statement.
