Palpifer sexnotatus
(
Moore, 1879: 413
) (
Hepialus
)
Type
locality:
Darjiling
[
India
,
West Bengal
, Darjeeling]
.
Distribution: Indian records: Himachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Uttarakhand, West Bengal. Global records:
Bhutan
(
Tindale 1941
;
Grehan & Ismavel 2017
).
Note: The distribution of
P. sexnotatus
is quite dubious.
Grehan & Ismavel (2017)
recorded the Indian distribution of this species from Himachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Uttarakhand and West Bengal. While,
Tindale (1941)
reported it from
Bhutan
. Dr. J. R. Grehan (per. Comm.) mentioned that
P. sexnotatus
is applicable only to northeastern
India
. So, probably the other records of
P. sexnotatus
belong to different species.
