A deep and short body, large eyes situated close to the margin of the head, 0+9–10 smooth gill rakers, strong rostral spine on ocular side, strong upper orbital spines, small rostral spine on blind side; pectoral-fin ray on ocular-side elongate in males (41–58% SL) and with a dark blue peritoneum. Size. Reaching 94 mm SL. Distribution. Known only from the type series collection from off Ke-tzu-liao, Kaohsiung , southwestern Taiwan .
