FIGURE 133.
A. placidus
sp. nov.
A, habitus; B, face; C, mesosoma, lateral view; D, head and anterior mesosoma, dorsal view; E, wings with arrows indicating relatively short vein 1-M relative to M+CU of hind wing; F, metasoma.
Body length
5.1 mm
, fore wing length
4 mm
and antenna length
6 mm
.
Antenna with 41 flagellomeres. Terminal flagellomere weakly acuminate. Median flagellomeres 2 x longer than wide. Malar space long. Occipital carina complete medio-dorsally. Mesopleuron largely finely longitudinally striate on aciculate background, precoxal sulcus weakly impressed, striate, speculum absent. Propodeum with weak midlongitudinal carina on anterior 0.9. Fore wing vein 2-CU1 2.2 x 1-CU1. Apex of fore wing subbasal cell evenly setose. Fore wing vein 3-SR 1.2 x vein r. Fore wing vein 2-SR+M 1.1 x vein r. Fore wing vein SR1 3.08 x vein 3- SR. Hind wing vein M+CU 2.45 x 1-M. Hind wing subbasal cell evenly setose. Hind wing vein m-cu almost absent. Apex of hind tibia without comb of specialised adpressed setae medially. Claws without conspicuous pecten. Basal lobes of 1
st
tergite weak, rounded but more steeply so posteriorly. 3
rd
tergite with complete midlongitudinal carina.
Etymology. Latin
placidus
meaning gentle in reference to the generally friendly appearance of the species.
Notes.
Paratypes
BCLDQ00144 and BCLDQ01057 differ by two and one bases respectively from the
holotype
and remainder of
paratypes
, but we can discern no morphological differences; the possibility that they represent a cryptic species can not be excluded at this stage
